Roger Rothenmaier Obituary

Roger E. Rothenmaier

Roger E. Rothenmaier passed away peacefully on May 1, 2020 with his wife Celine at his side. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 86 years ago. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Celine (Luther). Roger and Celine moved to Las Cruces in 1997 after he retired from Johnson Controls Milwaukee office. Preceded in death by daughter Pam and son Mike. Survived by daughter Angie Randall and son-in-law Dan, daughter Mary Rothenmaier and son-in-law Dan (Langlois), 2 grandchildren Kaci Randall and Cooper Langlois, sister-in-law Pat Luther, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He made many close friends in Wisconsin and Las Cruces, especially the lifelong Sheepshead card club of grade school friends. Roger served in the US Army, stationed in Germany from 1956-1958. He was a member of the IBEW electrical Workers Union #494. He was an active member of the Las Cruces Historical Society and served as president for one year. Roger was an avid sports fan of college basketball and March madness, especially true to Marquette University, New Mexico State University and UW Madison. He followed the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and high school sports as well. He enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, cross county skiing, biking and boating through the channels of the Fence Lake chain. He enjoyed traveling and road trips. He loved the great outdoors, especially his cabin in northern Wisconsin. He passed his strong work ethic and sense of humor to his children. Quiet in demeanor, when he spoke you wanted to be listening. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

My family and I are so sorry for your loss. We have not personally met Roger, but he knew my grandfather very well. Roger and his wife reached out to our family in a time when our infant son was having a medical crisis, and helped support us even though he didn't know us personally. We were so very grateful for their support, their love, and their generosity. I wish we had been able to meet him, it sounds like he was an incredible man. Condolences to his wife and all his family you are in our prayers. Love, The Ellett Family
