Jay E. McKently PALMYRA Jay Edwin McKently, 81, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Lebanon VA Hospital. He is survived by his loving wifeof 59 years, Joanne F. (Schultz) McKently. He was born Saturday, October 29, 1932, in Muhlenberg Township to the late Earland Beatrice (Schambach) McKently. Jay graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1950, he then went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Air Force. He served as the North Londonderry Township Treasurer prior to serving as the Township's Tax Collector for 20 years. Jay was the former President of the Palmyra High School Band Parents Organization and was an avid antiques collector and dealer. Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by two daughters, Lori LaMar and husband Scott of Elizabethtown and Cindy Gensemer of Denver; three grandchildren, Jay Gensemer of Ephrata, Karli LaMar of Elizabethtown, and Daniel LaMar and his wife, Kimberly (Spesak) of Mt. Joy; and a sister, Patricia Berger of Reading. He is predeceased by a brother, Richard McKently; and a son-in-law, Brian Gensemer. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at noon at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Lebanon VA Hospice, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon 17042, please indicate hospice designation on memorial contributions. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.rothermelfuneralhome.com
