Irene M. Eshleman S. HANOVER TWP. Irene M. Barb Eshleman, 95, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in the Colonial Park Care Center. Born in Mt. Jackson, Va., on October 1, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Lucy (Barb) Barb. Irene retired from the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1979, where she worked in the wrapping department. Irene was very active in the life at Zion Lutheran Church, Union Deposit, especially the Women's Group and cooking for the South Hanover Lions Club. Irene enjoyed baking and cooking. She made excellent soup. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Lester N. Eshleman; three sisters, Nellie Barb, Hilda Rife, and Minnie McNeal; and four brothers, Lewis Barb, Joseph Barb, Simon Barb, and Edward Barb. She is survived by her son, John L. Eshleman of South Hanover Township; a sister, Mary Wise, wife of Bruce of Manheim; and a stepbrother, John Barb of Campbelltown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, 5 W. Main St., Hershey, with The Rev. Robert W. Lowden and Diaconal Minister Kate Smith officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the services. Interment will be in Hanoverdale Cemetery, West Hanover Township. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 5 W.
