Michael J. McGinty Sr.

Michael J. McGinty, Sr. LEBANON Michael Joseph McGinty, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Traditions of Hershey in Palmyra. He was the husband of Rita M. (Mullaney) McGinty (deceased). Born in Philadelphia on April 11, 1928, he was a son of the late Hugh and Bertha Caroline (Lengel) McGinty. Michael was a lifelong insurance professional, and president and general manager of a statewide agency for many years. He was a longtime and active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and set the standard for volunteers at the Lebanon Community Theatre, where he was known as "Popcorn Mike." He is survived by seven children, Gail wife of the late Robert Hawley, Michael J., Jr. husband of Gail of Sewell, N.J., Kathleen wife of Bob Sahasaylo of Naples, Fla., Linda wife of David Evans, of Conway, S.C., Terrence husband of Ida Brown, Seattle, Wash., Michele wife of Stephan Boyer, Campbelltown, Timothy husband of Marie "Beth" Hughes Brown of Fairfax, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hugh of Boulder Colo., Elmer husband of Doris McGinty of Denver, Colo., and Robert husband of Margaret of Warminster. He was preceded in death by two sons, John McGinty and Daniel Brown. Funeral Service 12 noon Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 Oak St., Lebanon 17042. Viewing hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
