Oh my... We spoke to Mr Van Winkle on the phone a month before he passed. I grew up having opera fudge during the holidays at my Grandparents' house in Lebanon. We discovered Van Winkle's fudge is the closest to hers. Mr.Van Winkle would invite us in to have a conversation. His accent reminded me of my grandmother's. What a wonderful family. God rest their sweet souls.

I'm sorry to read about the passing of "Rip" and Nancy. Rip was my little league baseball coach and I also met him a few times while employed at the Lebanon Steel Foundry. Nancy always was one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. May they both rest peacefully.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was shocked to just find out they both passed. They were both so nice when your mom could no longer chat, you father would always chat with me. When I would picking up my opera fudge your dad was always kind and we often had such nice conversations. So kind, I will miss them. So sorry I missed the funerals.
Praying for your family at this sad time.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Nancy and Rip. They were my neighbors growing up but I really got to know them when I fell in love with their Opera fudge. And then my mother joined the opera fudge ladies! That group and Nancy and Rip were good friends to her. I will always appreciate their kindness and friendship to my mother and me after my dad passed away. Rest In Peace, Nancy and Rip.
