Susan K. Gerhart HOWE, IN Susan K. Gerhart, 48, a lady who always put the needs of others before herself, passed away early Thursday morning, February 21, 2013, at the Oak Lawn Hospital in Marshall, Mich. She was born December 4, 1964, in Lebanon, daughter of the late Joseph and Carolyn A. (Nicholas) Arnt. Susan resided in Howe, Ind., for the past eight years, coming from Myerstown. On May 29, 1994, she married Gary Gerhart in Myerstown. She had been employed part time by Everlast Roofing in Howe, Ind. The job in which she found the most joy was being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Susan enjoyed gardening and loved her pets and time spent with her family. She is survived by her husband, Gary; two daughters, Brittny (Jonathan) Rodkey of LaGrange, Ind., and Natasha (Rich) Beard of Lebanon; three sons, George (Crystal) Spangler, III of Newmanstown, Joshua Gerhart of Myerstown, and Anthony Weister of Stouchsburg; four grandchildren, Landon Mohr, Kaden Rodkey, Izabella Spangler, and Kole Rodkey; mother, Carolyn A. Arnt of Jonestown; two sisters, Vicky Schauer of Jonestown and Sandy Latcheran of Lititz; two brothers, Jessie Arnt and Perry Arnt, both of Lebanon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Myerstown United Church of Christ, 306 W. Main St., Myerstown, where a memorial service celebrating the life of Susan K. Gerhart will begin at 11 a.m. The Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to the , 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
