Lorraine D. Everly LEBANON Lorraine Ditzler Everly, 90, passed away peacefully at Hershey Medical Center early on the morning of Wednesday, June 18, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born on September 24, 1923, in Lickdale, to Paul Ditzler and Mary Swalm Ditzler, and attended Westminster High School in Maryland, where she graduated in 1940. In October 1948, she met her future husband, Joseph, while attempting to play "Slow Boat to China" on the jukebox after the Jonestown Halloween Parade. After a whirlwind romance, the two married in 1949, and spent the next six plus decades together as husband and wife. Lorraine worked as Executive Secretary in the USP&FO Office at Fort Indiantown Gap until her retirement in 1981. She enjoyed reading, visiting with family and friends, and never missed a chance to watch her beloved Phillies play. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph I.C. Everly; son, Damien Joseph Everly; parents, Mary Swalm Ditzler and Paul Ditzler; and her brother, Clifford Ditzler. She is survived by her sister, Sandra and husband, Frank Hackett of Annville; sister, Lillian and husband, Joseph Zengerle of Cleona; sister, Janet Vindich of Mechanicsburg; daughter, Rosemary Linkovic of Harrisburg; grandson, Matthew Bowman and wife, Madeleine Bowman of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Michelle Bowman Dixon and husband, Mike Dixon of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Evan and Patricia Bowman and Joseph and Gabriella Dixon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046 at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Viewing will be held Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lorraine's name to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Lebanon. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., is entrusted with the arrangements.
