Lois Hetrick Obituary

Lois J. Hetrick, 71, died peacefully Saturday morning, July 16, 2016, at Serenity Hospice House in Shippenville following a lengthy illness.

Born April 4, 1945, in Oak Ridge, she was the daughter of Leroy and Betty Shick.

Mrs. Hetrick graduated from Redbank Valley High School in 1963. She continued her education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, earning a degree in home economics in 1966.

She briefly taught home economics at Brockway High School. She was then employed at McCauley Trucking Company. Later in her life, she was a nanny and a home care provider in the Washington, D.C. area.

Mrs. Hetrick attended the First Church of God in New Bethlehem.

She enjoyed reading, visiting with friends, trips to Washington, D.C. to see the Cherry Blossoms, and taking care of others, especially Alex and Tyler.

Survivors include two sons, Brent Hetrick and his wife, Cyndy, of Perth, Australia, and Kyle Hetrick and his wife, Tracey, of New Bethlehem; and three grandsons, Matthew, Brian and Tyler Hetrick.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at the Oakland Church of God in Distant at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016 with the Rev. Jimmy Swogger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redbank Valley Public Library, 720 Broad St., New Bethlehem, PA 16242.
