BIEBER, WILLIAM (BILL) - was born in Neudorf, SK on May 21, 1931 to George and Maria (Nee Yung) Bieber, baptized at the Redeemer Lutheran Church near their farm and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Neudorf in 1945 by Reverend Frank Miller. He completed High School at Concordia College, Edmonton and after graduation he worked at the Royal Bank in Neudorf, Melvlle and Langian. Moved to Toronto (1951 to 1957) and worked in a variety of jobs. Bill moved to Port Coquitlam, BC in 1957 where he worked as a real estate salesman, in sawmills and at framing construction. He came back to Saskatchewan in 1967 due to his mother's illness and got her into a care institution. He drove taxi in Regina and in 1969 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Daunheimer. He went into the meat business in 1970 and started making "Farm-Style" sausage. After eight years in the meat business Bill applied for the position of Business Manager at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, a position that he enjoyed until his retirement at their cottage in 1992. Bill was very active in church work, starting as an organist (at age 13), choir, Sunday School teacher for about 20 years, church President, Treasurer, Adult Bible class teacher and church services leader. Bill enjoyed carpentry work at their cottage and especially enjoyed ice fishing. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and was part of an orchestra in the Fort Qu'Appelle area for more than seven years, playing mostly in area nursing homes. In 2005, after 33 years at their cottage they sold it and moved to Regina. Again Bill joined an orchestra that also played in nursing homes in the Regina area. He was predeceased by his father George on July 7, 1970; his mother Maria on December 27, 1970; sister Ione (Wilmer) on August 10, 1982; brother John Bieber on February 18, 1988; sister Mary (Ulmer) on December 23, 1997and sister Lydia (Gabel) on October 4, 2000. Bill is survived by his wife Phyllis sister Emma (Martin) of Southey, SK; brother Otto (Marge) Bieber of Neudorf, SK and sister Irene (Herndier) of Vancouver, BC; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 935 McCarthy Boulevard North, Regina, SK on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
