Rose Bogden
(nee Strilchuk)
Born on September 11, 1924 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Passed peacefully in her sleep on December 23, 2015 at the age of 91 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by parents, Peter and Alexandra Strilchuk; brothers Johnny Tokar, George and John; sisters Pauline, Mary and Lena. Also by her loving partners Archie Bogden (1959), Paul Hillier (1973), and Albin Stasik (2000) and her great-granddaughter Kendall Hebert (2006). She leaves behind her brother Archie Strilchuk and sisters-in-law Eva Tokar and Betty Fritz. Cherished mother of Diane Mellian, Gayle Hebert and Micheal Bogden (Carol Ann). Loving Mima to 8 grandchildren, of whom she was very proud: Michaelle Conte (Dave), Danielle Mellian; Kenny Hebert, Anthony Hebert and Cari Hebert; Lorree Bogden (Erika), Shonna Bogden (John) and Micheal Bogden (Abby). Also a loving Mima to 7 great-grandchildren; Danny Leo Mellian, Jaclynne Sehlin (Colin); Shelby Hebert; Kendra and Taryn Hebert and Noah Bogden. She also leaves two adorable great-great-grandchildren Maximus and Summer Love Mellian; as well as many nieces and nephews. Rose was a very special woman and she will be missed by many family and friends, especially Shirley and Russ Dickson and Edith Hamilton. She was very proud to be part of two family celebrations of five generations; the first event was with her mother present for the pictures. Rose was a very strong woman, being a widow at 35 years of age with 3 children to raise and bills to pay. The 1940s were hard times. She sold Avon, achieving many goals right up to receiving her diamond pin. She would sit up at nights decoration Ukrainian Easter eggs and sell them. She went back to school, taking hair dressing classes after the death of Archie in 1959 and opened up her own beauty salon "Hi Fashion Beauty Salon" on Pillette Road in Windsor, Ontario. After 25 years, she returned and moved to Stony Plain, Alberta to be with Albin, and in 1992 they moved to Victoria, BC. Rose was an active woman, she really enjoyed golfing. She achieved every golfer's dream, getting a "hole in one" on June 27, 2002. She started lawn bowling after she turned 70 years old. She also enjoyed playing cards and darts with her many friends at the Monterey Recreation Center. Thursday was her whisk day, Friday was Bridge and, oh yes! Monday was nickel Bingo. She loved watching baseball. Her favourite team was the Toronto Blue Jays. Rose will be interred at Regina Funeral and Cemetery in Regina, Saskatchewan.
