William Girard Obituary
Bill worked for Red Wing Shoe Company, Red Wing, MN, for 29 years. Bill started out his career as a Red Wing Shoe Store manager trainee, then became a manager in Red Wing Shoe Stores in Schaumburg, IL, and Dayton Beach, FL. After a few years he moved back to WI/MN area and went into the Quality Dept. where he learned from the best, start to finish of shoe making. Bill traveled for the company all over the USA and overseas visiting suppliers.
Bill was the best son, brother, father and friend anyone could ask for. He was dedicated to each of us and will always be remembered and loved. He had an infectious smile and calming spirit not only within our family but the Red Wing Shoe family as well.
He is survived by his mother, Janice, siblings; Gwen & Todd, Liza & Gary, Jill & Joe, Jenny & Russ, nieces and nephews; Andrew & Michelle, Laura & Adler, Brenton & Stacy, Kyle & Michelle, Ryan & Megan, Brooke & Zeke, Page & Bryan.
What love he had for his great nieces & nephews! "Uncle Billy" to them - Jay, Kylie, Isaac, Oliver, Sophia, Isabelle, Colette, Theo, Harper, Lacey, & Avery. He loved to tease them and tease he did.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vaughn. Bill has joined his Dad in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, a special fund has been set up in the names of Jordan and Blayne at the First Bank of Baldwin, Plum City, WI.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb 24, 2020 from 4 to 7 PM at Rhiel Funeral Home, Durand, WI. A memorial service will be held at the Lund Mission Covenant Church, Stockholm, WI, on Tuesday, Feb 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Darren Catron will be officiating with a visitation 1 hour before the service.
Burial will be at a later time.
Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is assisting the family.

Bill (or Willie to our college buddies at UW-Eau Claire) will be be missed. Steve Stillman, Jeff Felt, Dave Glendenning, Chris Stevens, Jeff Molitor, Steve Deprey, Mary Behring among many others share fond memories of Willie. He was always smiling, a great friend, athlete on our intramural teams, and like a brother I never had. Time and distance kept us apart, but I have been in contact with our gang to share memories of Willie. I was fortunate to be able to attend the service as others of our gang live as far away as Massachusetts and Hawaii. Wille, we will forever cherish your friendship! Jim Cheshire

Dear Janice and Family!! I just got back from North Dakota and my husband Kevin told me the news. I am so sorry to hear the loss of William (Bill) and I'm so sorry I missed the visitation and funeral. Growing up, I remember him as such a kind great person! He was always so nice to me. Thinking and prayers to you and your family. You have our deepest sympathy. So sorry!! Love always from the Weinzirls, Doris and Kevin (Doris Wittig you may know me by).

Bill helped us with the Red Wing Shoe plant in Potosi Missouri. He always had a smile on his face and talked with everyone. He will be greatly missed. Such a wonderful person!

I am best friends with Wills son Blayne...Blayne Will and I talked quite a few times and Will was always the light of the conversation!! He was a very nice man and he was always there for his son family! He will forever be missed and my prayers are here for my best friend Blayne and his family

Im beat friends with Wills son Blayne and us three use to talk all the time...Will was a very nice guy and no matter what he was always there for his children. He will forever be missed and in our hearts. My prayers are here for my best friend Blayne and his family

I have great memories of Bill from Bridgman Hall where Bill was a freshman and I was his Hall director. He was a great young person, so full of life. I always wondered what happened to him. So tragic.
