Kyle Joseph Lee Simmons, 13, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Unity Baptist Church, Sixth Street location, Vandalia, with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Memorials: The family, to help with burial expenses. Kyle was born on Jan. 13, 2003, the son of Corey and Christy (Hensley) Simmons.
Kyle was a special member of his family. Due to his health, he was unable to go to school, but that didn't stop him from teaching his friends and family to give and receive unconditional love, and about hope and faith.
He is survived by his father, Corey Simmons and significant other Kenna Koehler of Vandalia; Christy and her husband Brandon Hicks of Brownstown; grandparents, Everett and Barb Simmons of Vandalia, Mary Shelton of Greenville, Harold Hensley of Indiana, and Tammy and Chris Fladeland of Mississippi; great-grandparents, Mary Jo Wright of Florida and Merle Wright of Alabama; brothers, Bradley, Terry and Mikel; sisters, Rosie, Nevada and Sarah; caregiver and friend, Robby White of Vandalia; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Mildred Hensley.
