Evelyn M. Lawler, 79, of Mulberry Grove, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Hillsboro.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Jeff Hemkin officiating. Burial will follow at Green-Hill Cemetery in rural Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Green-Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.millerfh.net.
Mrs. Lawler was born on Jan. 26, 1935, in Vandalia, the daughter of Herman and Effine Moore Dothager. She married Norman Lee Lawler on Dec. 3, 1954, in Vandalia; he passed away on Aug. 13, 2006.
She was formerly employed at Princess Peggy Garment Factory and retired from Crane Packing Co., both in Vandalia. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Royal Neighbors of America and The Red Hats Society.
She is survived by a son, Ron Lawler of Mulberry Grove; daughter, Barbara Schmedeke of Hillsboro; brother, August Dothager of Mulberry Grove; sisters, Elaine Choma of Vandalia and Erma Freeman of Mulberry Grove; and grandchildren, Luke, Jacob, Drew, and Hillary and her husband Christopher.
She preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brother and a stepgrandson, Christopher Schmedeke.
