David A. Hutchcraft, 52, of Vandalia, passed away on Friday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Vandalia, with Lt. Col. Ron Bonomo officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in rural Ramsey. Visitation will held from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, both at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Mt. Mr. Hutchcraft was born on Saturday, May 12, 1962, in Taylorville, the son of Donald Sager and Alta Fern Newberry Kendall. He married Vickie L. Hanley on Feb. 1, 1980, in Ramsey.
He was a lieutentent for the Federal Department of Corrections (FCI) in Greenville; was an eight-year Army veteran, serving in Desert Storm; and was affiliated with the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife; father, of Charleston; mother, of Vandalia; son, Billy A. Hutchcraft of Vandalia; brothers, Pepe Kendall of Vandalia and Eric Sager of Charleston; sistes, Kim and her husband Kendall Williamson of Dayton, Ohio, and Linda Clapp of Indianapolis, Ind.; in-laws, Lulubell and her husband James Johnson of Vandalia; and grandchildren, Kyle, Andrew and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael L. Ballard, in 1999.
