Harry Charles Busse, 93, of Farina, passed away at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating and with a two-hour viewing prior to the services. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter. Memorials: American Kidney Association, St. Peter's Lutheran Church or donor's choice. Pagel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Busse was born on March 24, 1924, in St. Peter, the son of William E. and Mathilda (Schnarre) Busse. He married Mary A. Parkes on April 25, 1947, in Auburn; she preceded him in death.
He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific on the USS Alabama battleship from 1943-45. He was a grain and livestock farmer since 1949. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he served in numerous offices; Fayette County Farm Bureau, St. Peter American Legion and Farina LaGrove Community School District Board of Education.
He is survived by his sons, Donald Busse and his wife Sheryl of Farina, and Kenton Busse and his wife Nancy of Wentzville, Mo.; daughter, Connie Parmenter of Farina; and grandchildren, Ben Parmenter of Seattle, Wash., Aaron Parmenter of Edwardsville, Tim Busse of Oswego, and Heather and her husband Garrett Bonsell of Hillsdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, Betty Busse, in infancy; a sister, Erma Fogler; and a brother-in-law, Richard Fogler.
