James R. "Jim" Brewer, 88, of Ramsey, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Ramsey, with the Revs. Jeff Shouse and Don Price officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and one hour before services, both at the church. Memorials: First Baptist Church of Ramsey. Mr. Brewer was born on Nov. 5, 1927, in Westervelt, the son of Virgil R. and Mabel (Miller) Brewer. He married Shirley J. Green on June 4, 1951.
He was a farmer, U.S. Merchant Marine Korean War veteran, and member of the Ramsey American Legion Post, retired Korean Veterans Group in Shelbyville and First Baptist Church in Ramsey, where he formerly served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Jim Brewer of Ramsey, and Dan Brewer and his wife Angie of Merritt Island, Fla.; sisters, Mary Gould of Lacey, Wash., and Mildred Schneeberg of Hudson, Fla.; and grandchildren, Kacie and Rusty Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Rex.
