Mrs. Potts was born into the Christian family of Bernard and Maria Ziegler-Wolf, one of eight siblings. She began her long life on July 2, 1919, at the family farm in Mound Township in the Bethlehem Community, Effingham County. She was baptized on July 6, 1919, and confirmed her faith on April 9, 1933, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Bethlehem Lutheran School in April 1935. She married Gilbert A. Potts on April 21, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church; Gilbert preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1985. She maintained her membership at Immanuel from 1942 until her death.
Besides raising a family with her late husband and working beside him in their family business for numerous years at the Western Auto Store in Altamont, she found time for the Immanuel Ladies Aid, church choir, Bible study classes, Altar Guild and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Olga and Gilbert eventually found time for travel and made trips to Europe and the Holy Land. Olga lived with her daughter, Elaine, since December 2007 in Inverness to be near her family. She loved to sew and she made walker, potato and gift bags. She faithfully mended many things for her children and even friends. She also enjoyed exploring new restaurants with her family and loved to top off every meal with a dessert! Olga is deeply loved by her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Gilbert Potts and his wife Sarah Jane of East Peoria; daughter, Elaine Louise and her husband Tim Schmitt of Inverness; grandchildren, Christopher Skelton and his wife Tina of St. Joseph, Angela and her husband Andy Hannan of Pekin, Stephen Schmitt of Chicago and Kevin Schmitt of Palatine; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lucas Skelton, Drew Hannan, Alex Hannan and Amanda Hannan; sister-in-law, Leona Kruger-Wolf of Altamont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Clarence Wolf and his wife Norma, Carl Wolf and his wife Charlotte, Edgar Wolf and Eugene Wolf; and sisters, Gertrude and her husband Arlon Burrow, Clara and her husband Alfred Potts, and Edna and her husband Walter Sturtevant.
