Robert David Wise, 78, of Mulberry Grove, passed away at 3:47 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Randy Whitehead officiating. Interment will be in McInturff Cemetery in rural Vandalia, with military rites accorded graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 in Vandalia and VFW Post 9770 in Brownstown. Mr. Wise was born on Jan. 18, 1940, in O'Fallon, the son of Edgar and Margaret (Hock) Wise. He married Joyce Ann Washburn on Jan. 1, 1977, in Vandalia.
Mr. Wise was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1957-60 and in the Army Reserves from 1960-63. He was a man of many trades, working as a mechanic, welder and truck driver. Bob attended Church of Christ in Mulberry Grove, was a member of the Masonic Temperance Lodge and was a former member of the AINAD Shriners.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Darren Wise and wife Beth of Breese, and Dean Wise and wife Lisa of Breese; daughter-in-law, Janet Cook of Vandalia; sisters, Glenda, Linda and Ruth; brother, Rick; grandchildren, Allyson Wise, Carlee Wise, Mitchell Wise, Ellyn Wise, Keith Cook, Jacob Cook, Brittony Cook, Kyah Cook, Sierra Cook and Raven Cook; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Paislee, Paxton, Landen and Dawsyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Kevin Cook; brothers, George and Sonny; sisters, Rose and Mary; and a grandson, Kaleb Cook.
