Shirley M. Campbell, 84, of Vandalia, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at her home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson, officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, both at the church. Memorials: Vandalia Community Schools Foundation. Mrs. Campbell was born on April 19, 1934, in Brownstown, the daughter of Joseph William and Violet Fern (Helm) Smail. She married John Lewis Campbell on June 22, 1958, in Vandalia.
Shirley was a retired business teacher at the Vandalia Community High School and an adamant VCHS School supporter in both academics as well as sports. Shirley enjoyed attending school functions and sporting events, and was the scorekeeper for the girls' basketball and volleyball games. She attended First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.
She is survived by her husband; sons, John W. Campbell and Whitney of Vandalia, and Joe Campbell and Laura, Beecher City; daughters, Nancy Campbell and Tracy of Altamont, Sara Storm and Tim of Hillsboro, and Susie Durk and Randy of O'Fallon; sisters, Janet Jackson and Lagar of Decatur, and Pat White and Nelson of Clinton; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
