Wallace Dean Henry "Wally" Bertram, 79, of Shobonier, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shobonier, with the Rev. Josh Frazee officiating. Burial will be in Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia and VFW Post 9770 of Brownstown. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before services on Thursday, both at the church. Memorials: Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shobonier or Charity. Mr. Bertram was born on Sept. 10, 1936, in Carmi, the son of Walter Fred and Irene Emma (Remmert) Bertram. He married Joyce Ann Denton on Oct. 17, 1959, at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He was a repairman for Illinois Bell Telephone, an Army veteran and a member of Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Tamela Lynn and her husband Ken Wolff of Sikeston, Mo., Dianna Kay Grove of Vandalia, and Tina Marie and her husband John Ashdown of Vandalia; sister, Marjorie and her husband Vernon Krueger of Poquoson, Va.; grandchildren, Craig Mason, Clint Mason, Kristin Grove, Matthew Grove, Derek Ashdown and Todd Ashdown; and great-grandchildren, Clark Parmenter and Brooke Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Lee Bertram.
