Columbus, GA- Annie Ruth David, 90, passed on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Columbus Hospice. Funeral service for Mrs. David will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Pentecostal Deliverance Church, 914 27th Street, Columbus. Elder Joseph Moore, officiating. Interment will be held in Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA according to the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home, Inc. Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the funeral home located at 927 - 5th Avenue, Columbus.
Mrs. Annie Ruth David also known as "Mother Ruth" was born in Columbus, GA to the late Thomasine and Eddie James Cannon on October 2, 1928. She attended school in the Muscogee County School District. After high school she moved to Albany, New York and Newark, New Jersey where she pursued a career in modeling. She later moved back south where she worked in house cleaning services and as a caregiver in hospitals and nursing homes. She was married to the late Leon Arthur David and in 1981 she became a member of Pentecostal Deliverance Church where she served the church and community faithfully.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Michael Anthony Hampton.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, five daughters, Rosalyn Short (George), Charlotte Shands and Vesta Mouran all of Columbus, Jeanette Brewster (Sammy), Atlanta and Delores Wardlaw (Billy), Anderson, SC; two sons, Joseph Hampton and Aron Hampton (Coretta) both of Columbus; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
