10 YEARS ALREADY??

AS THE DIRT HIT THE CASKET, I HAD A SILENT CRY. AS THEY READ HIS EULOGY, I SAID MY LAST EARTHLY GOOD-BYE!

AS HIS SPIRIT SOARED TO HIS FINAL DESTINATION, I LOOKED TOWARDS HEAVEN AND VOWED, SON, I'LL SEE YOU LATER.

CONTINUE TO R.I.P. LOVE, YOUR MOM

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

SSG Sneed, I thought of you again today. I thought about how you made fun of me in the wieght room that day and of how you believed in me even though I didnt. I want you to know that I got my tab, just like you said I would. I thought about your words every day in school, I think they were all that kept me from quitting sometimes. I thought about what youd say if I came back to the dirty thirty without the tab, and the look you d give me. The thought of your dissappointment kept me going. My biggest regret is never being able to tell you how much I looked up to you as a big brother, and how you and the other guys molded me into who I am today, even though I am a mere shadow of a man compared to you and jay. I still do not understand how a man like me can still be here and have what I have , but you are not. I wrestle with this everyday. I would trade my empire of dirt in a heartbeat if I could to trade places with you. I miss you and jay every day. I think about the motor pool, the heinekens, the movies, the pt and I dont think I will ever let those memories go. I

Brandon,

My friend there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you and even wonder were would we be if the good Lord had not swept you up for his own. As I sit at my computer with tears still streaming from my face like so many times before I wonder what to tell you because so much as happened, my pain is still alot to bear it hurts like it was yesterday. I even joined the National Guard and I wear this uniform in honor of you. I miss you so much. You were my friend and I love you no matter what. Though I am not rushing anything but I can't wait to see you again.

Your friend, Pamela

With the passing of yet another Memorial Day weekend, I'm humbly reminded that our family is not the only Gold Star family in Oklahoma. I've set aside time today to reflect on the past and remember that your family has suffered the loss of their soldier. Thank you for this soldier's service and duty. As he will always be dearly missed because he payed the ultimate sacrifice. He gave his life to protect our country and our freedom.

MATTHEW 8:29: FOR WHOM HE FOREKNEW, HE ALSO PREDESTINED TO BE CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, THAT HE MIGHT BE THE FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BRETHEN. MY NAME IS GLORIA SNEED MANN, SFC BRANDON K SNEED IS MY AND MY HUSBAND, ALVIN, FIRSTBORN SON. NOT THAT I AM COMPARING MY SON TO JESUS, I'M HUMBLY ACKNOWLEDGING THE HONOR GOD BLESSED US WITH. BRANDON IS THE ELDEST OF 5 BOYS BORN BETWEEN HIS DAD AND I. THAT'S JUST FOR HISTORY TO THOSE OF YOU THAT LOVED AND HONORED MY SON. I REFER TO HIM AS MY SON IN THIS LETTER BECAUSE I'M COMING TO YOU FROM A MOM'S HEART TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR LETTERS AND PRAYERS THAT WENT OUT AND ARE GOING OUT TO OUR FAMILY. SOME MAY WONDER WHY IT TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO WRITE, SOME MAY EVEN UNDERSTAND MY DELAY. BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD, I FOLLOW HIS TIME LINE WITHOUT QUESTION (WELL, MAYBE SOMETIMES) BUT NEVERTHELESS, GOD'S TIME. IT'S NOT EASY TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE THAT WAS/IS SO MUCH A PART OF YOU THAT WHEN HE DIED, IT WAS LIKE A PIECE OF ME DIED WITH HIM. I THINK THAT WAS GOD'S WAY OF PROTECTING ME AT THE TIME; JUST SHUT ME DOWN FOR A MINUTE. IT STILL HURTS, THE VOID IS STILL THERE, BUT LIFE GOES ON, AND SO DOES LOVE. I HAVE MY MEMORIES. AND THANKS TO YOU GUYS THAT WRITE IN, I HAVE NEW INSIGHTS TO THE MAN HE BECAME. I THANK GOD FOR YOU ALL. WISH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY THE BEST.

Sneed,

As I prepare to Retire from this Military I can't help but think about you the first person I met at my first duty station and the good times and even the no so good times we shared from the beginning of our careers in AZ throughout your time in GA, the Army-Navy Football games where you told me everyplay that "I was open" still brings a smile to my face, or when I had problems at home and had to stay in your room, the smile on your face cause you knew we were headed downtown that night, They say time flies but it doesn't "it was long" But I thank you for getting me through this journey, I pour a lil out of every one I open. "always have and always will".

MISS YA DUDE!

Brandon, as I sit here thinking of the young Brandon Sneed in Yuma, Arizona I just smile thinking of your infectious smile and your brotherly ways. You always did your thing on the B-Ball court and on the Flag Football field.

B, you are truly missed Partna’ and you are even more loved by all that you have ever encountered. Your heart was infinite and your impact on others has always been and will remain immeasurable.

What moves through us is silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. We miss you Bro’!!!

In Memory of Brandon ~ (Debra Estep)
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Brandon, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Almighty God, whose will it is that we be leaders of men,
hear us as we come to you for guidance in this awesome
responsibility. Let us never forget our duty in the men whom
lead. May we instill in them the qualities of loyalty, integrity,
and duty. Grant us the patience in dealing with the mistakes
of our fellow man. Let us never forget that no man is perfect,
but that perfection for fragile humans is trying each day to
be better than the day before. Give us courage, O Lord, in the
face of danger, keep us pure in heart, clean in mind, and strong
in purpose. Remind us that wisdom is not gained in an hour,
a day, or in a year, but it is a process that continues all the
days of our lives. Keep ever before us our goal which is not
to perpetrate war, but to safeguard peace and preserve your
great gift to man, Freedom. May you always be near to guide
us in decisions, comfort us in our failures, and keep us humble
in our successes. We ask your divine blessings and leadership
as we discharge the honor and responsibility of leading men
in the service of our country. Walk close to us always,
our father, that we may not fall.
AMEN

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the Family of Sgt. lst Class Brandon K. Sneed:
Your son's name, along with our sons, is forever together on a Memorial standing at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA. Their dogtags hang together forever moving with the wind creating a subtle sound, like the quiet whispers of the Fallen as they continue to speak to us. Attending this Memorial Dedication and hearing your child's name being read along with ours, has prompted me to sign this soldier's guestbook.
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My GOD be with your family during their time of sorrow. It was a great pleasure working with SSG Sneed he will always be remembered by everyone that knew him. He just left you with the feeling that he was going to do the right thing for his platoon and himself a true SOLDIER at heart. I know that times will be hard but trust in your faith and keep your head up and know that God has another soldier teaching us how to LOVE. To the Kids make daddy proud continue to do the right thing as dad would want you to do (homework chores and conduct)

November 30, 2005. Today has been a day of extreme emotions for me. I was called by a member of that close knit family of Yuma Proving Ground, AZ of the early 90s where I was the NCOIC. As happy as I was to hear from Sandman I was equally devistated with the news of Sneeds passing. Unfortunately, only those of us who were stationed there during this time can understand the special bond we had during those years. Not just Soldiers or Friends, We were Family! Although I hadn't heard from Sneed since I retired in 1993 the pain feels like I lost my Brother, which I have. A quiet but competitive man, Brandon will truly be missed. Dawn I pray that the Lord replaces your pain with his ever healing LOVE. I want to make a final comment to explain why we do what we do.
It's not how much we hate that we battle, But it's how much we LOVE those we left behind. This country has lost a Good Man!

To Dawn Cris Brandee and Bj, Sneed was a good friend/brother/uncle to my family,we have been good friend and family since the early 90tys we have had some good time,Sneed use to get mad when I use to cheat when we would play basketball,he was more so mad because he could not beat me,even when I was not cheating. To Lori a well rounded sister and a dear best friend God has called Sneed home he is in a resting place now, my heart goes out to each and everyone of you, I will always keep you up lifted in my prayers.Just remember that when a life is taken one is giving, so we have to charish the memories and good time that share while we are down here on this earth, when ever you or the kids need me I will always be there,as long as I have a breath in my body and a bone in my back I am here, from a sister to a sister, love you and the kids always aunt Wana

To the family of SFC Sneed,
He was my squad leader in OIF from Jan 03-Aug 03. I am saddened by his loss and give my deepest sympathy to you all. At the time SSG Sneed was the one I looked to during the haze of battle. As I go to the middle east for my second tour, I will remember him and all he did for me. Again, my condolences and god bless. "Battle Boars"
