Columbus, GA- Mr. Davie "Bean" Roberts, Jr. passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. He was 72 years of age.
Born in Levy County, FL on November 2, 1945, Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Davie, Sr. and Bertha Saunders Roberts. He was a member of Franchise Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as a Deacon and was a former member of the choir. He obtained an Associates degree from Columbus Technical College. He was currently employed with the Muscogee County School District as a Bus Driver, and was also employed with UniRoyal Tires Company as a supervisor for 20 years. He was the owner/operator of Benz Trucking Company. He was a U. S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Sonja Hollis Roberts; a son, Charles P. Roberts (Charlotte); four daughters, Gloria Boyland (Kenny), Irma Roberts, Shuntee Copeland and Jameka Roberts; two adopted daughters, Tanya Mays and Monique Sanabria; four grandchildren, Erica Roberts, Jamayah Roberts, Darrell Smith, Jr. and Deondra Smith; four great grandchildren; his father and mother-in-law, Harold and Sandra Williford; brother and sisters-in-law, Deidre Mansfield, Harold Williford, Jr. and Rachel White; devoted niece, Brianna Holmes; devoted cousins, Alvin, Sheila and Veronica Washington; a host of devoted cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Roberts will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Franchise Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Raymond Cochran officiating. The interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with military honors accorded. Visitation is Thursday, 2 til 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
