Mrs. Jones was born on June 26, 1934 in Macon, GA, the daughter of Elias Dominey Story and Fay Rabon Story. Her family moved to Columbus in 1950, and she was a graduate of Columbus High School. She worked as a supervisor in the traffic department of Southern Bell, both in Columbus and with Potomac Bell in Cumberland, MD before marrying W. Herbert Jones in 1958. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Columbus Museum and the Columbus Historic Foundation and was a patron of the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. She was a life member of the Medical Center Auxiliary which she served as president in 1972 and 1973. Over the years, she was an active volunteer for many organizations, including the Concharty Council of Girl Scouts, the PTAs at Wynnton Elementary and Columbus High Schools, Callaway Gardens, and The Pastoral Institute. She enjoyed music, theater, history, art, gardening and travel. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, her siblings, Ruth Story Willis, Timothy Alexander Story and Sara Will Story Fallaw, and nieces Sondra Story Woodson and Melanie Ruth Register.
