Stephanie Joy Barker, age 27, died suddenly on Wednesday May 22nd, 2013, in San Francisco. She was born and raised in Francestown, NH and was most recently a resident of Cambridge, MA. She graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 2009 with a BS in nursing. Stephanie dedicated 5 years of service to Boston Healthcare for the Homeless – McInnis House, first as an intern and then full time immediately following her graduation. A compassionate, skillful nurse, she also volunteered her time in New Orleans, Haiti and Kenya.

Steph's passion for the sport of Ultimate Frisbee took her around the country and the world, playing tournaments at the world class level. Competitive and hardworking, she never gave up and pursued her chosen sport with ferocious intensity.

She is survived by her parents James and Cheryl Barker of Francestown, sister Michelle Barker of Francestown, and brother Richard Barker of Farmington, New Mexico.

A memorial service in celebration of Steph's life will be held at the Community Church of Francestown on Sunday, June 9th at 1:00 pm. Following the service there will be a reception with light refreshments. The family will be establishing a memorial fund to support ongoing relief efforts in Haiti and Kenya. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to this fund.
