Ronald F. "Ronnie" Sullivan

1939 - 2016

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- Ronald F. "Ronnie" Sullivan, 77, died December 22, 2016 at North Collier Hospital in Naples, Fla., after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born September 10, 1939 in Peterborough, son of the late Michael J. and Isabel (neé Peasley) Sullivan. He had been wintering in Florida for the past 30 years and became a permanent resident of Bonita Springs three years ago, coming from Hancock.

After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp and served from 1958 through 1962. He served as a turnkey at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Ronnie became a champion Golden Glove boxer while serving in the Marine Corp.

After serving his country, he returned home and began his career in the road paving industry. In 1968, he started Sullivan Brother's Paving Company in Greenfield. He operated the company until his retirement in 2013.

He is survived by his loving companion of 34 years, Janice P. Farrington of Bonita Springs, Fla.; five brothers, Michael Sullivan, and his wife Elsa, of Naples, Fla., James Sullivan and his wife Denise, of Antrim, Richard Sullivan and his wife Cecelia, of Peterborough, Daniel Sullivan of Antrim, and William Sullivan and his wife Ellen, of Deltona, Fla., and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Sheridan Sullivan and his nephew, Keith M. Sullivan.

A graveside service is being planned for this summer and will be held at the Hancock Cemetery in Hancock.
