Garland "Dan" Daniel Eaton Garland "Dan" Daniel Eaton Jr., 69, of 1221 Deer Crest Lane, Danville, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, with his family at his side at the Salem VA Hospital. He was born July 17, 1944, in Guilford County, N.C. to the late Garland Daniel Eaton Sr. and the late Cynthia Elizabeth Southern Eaton. Dan was married to Nora Farthing Eaton, who survives of the residence. Mr. Eaton served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict from 1967 to 1969. Dan's hobbies were Nascar, Fishing, Hunting and Golf. He took great pride in the fact that he had traveled to all 50 states. Dan retired from Miller Brewing Co. after 27 years of service where he was a Machinist. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Melissa Eaton Johnson and husband, Kyle, of Franklinton, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Julie Eaton of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; one step son, Ricky Grubbs Jr. of Danville; one sister, Clara Barber and husband, Russell, of Brown Summitt, N.C.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Mobley, Steven Mobley, Dusty Martin, Tammy Johnson Medlin and husband, Jeremy, and Teresa Johnson; five great-grandsons, Daniel Mason Allen Outwater, Alex Martin, Haley Medlin, Thomas Medlin and J.J. Medlin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michael Shane Eaton. The family will receive friends 6:30 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Norris Funeral Services, Inc. West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave. Danville, VA 24541 and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Norris Funeral Services, Inc. West End Chapel with the Rev. Ken Goins officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Dan River Post 1097. Memorial donations may be made to the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Dr. Danville, VA 24540. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave. Danville is serving the Eaton family. Online condolences may be made at www.norrisfuneral.com.
