A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

For

Mary J. Hall

Mary J. Hall, AKA - Barbara Jean, departed this earthly life peacefully on June 25, 2020. God quietly summoned his daughter home to enter into eternal rest after suffering with complications from COVID-19.

Mary was born on November 2, 1941, to the late John Melvin Barnes, Sr. and Grace Geneva Barnes of St. George's Island. Mary converted to Catholicism and became a member of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, where she and her husband raised their six children in the Catholic Faith.

Mary began her career as a homemaker and Mom. Later she worked for the Board of Education at Ridge Elementary School as a cafeteria worker. She also worked for Minitec Corporation as a Mechanical Assembly worker.

Family always meant a lot to Mary. She retired in 1998 from Minitec Corporation to help raise her grandchildren, which was what she enjoyed doing the most. She loved nurturing her grandchildren and teaching them values and respect for others, as well as having lots of fun, good times and laughs.

Mary loved family vacations and to travel. She visited London, England; Hilton Head, SC; The Massanutten Mountains; Alabama; Georgia; Florida; Alaska; The Caribbean; Germany and Hawaii

Mary loved shopping on the T.V. channels, including QVC and HSN and loved doing the word search books. As she got older, she requested the larger print. She also enjoyed talking on the telephone with her friends and family. Mary was a frequent member of the Saint Peter Claver (SPC) Call to Pray the Rosary, (CPR) group, a Rosary Prayer Group that comes together on Fridays via teleconference to pray the Mysteries of the Rosary.

On June 28, 1958, Mary married John R. Hall of St. James, Maryland. Sunday June 28, 2020, was their 62nd Wedding Anniversary. From their union, six children were born. They are oldest to youngest, including their spouses and children: John R. Hall, Jr., William X. Hall; (Melvin, Shawn, Raisa) Sheila M. Berlin; husband: Horace; (William Wright, Jr. & Bryan Bumpers); Patrick Hall, friend; Debbie; (Shannon McClary Hall-Sanders; Michael D. Hall; wife: Jennifer; (Michael Hall Jr., Miranda & Mya); Valerie Conner; husband: Bill, (Ashley & Brandon). Barbara Jean was also blessed with three great-grandkids, Xavier C. Wright, Olivia A. Bumpers, and Kaia J. Conner.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father and five siblings and their spouses; Rudolph Barnes; wife: Agnes; Georgia Milburn, husband: John; John Melvin Barnes, Jr; Mary Jones, husband: Othello, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

On her husband's side, Mary leaves behind to cherish her memories; Ernest F. Hall, Sr.; Christine Poole; Helen Nolan (Francis); Marie Blackmon; Claudette Hall; Jacqueline Hall; and Ola Hall.

Family and friends will greet the family from 10 am - 11 am; Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 am on Monday, July 6, 2020 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 47950 Mattapany Rd, St. Mary's City, MD 20686. Interment to follow at St. James/St. Cecilia Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD.
