Mamie Carter Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - On Monday, May 26, 2003, Mrs. Mamie Lee Carter, answered the call of her Heavenly Father. She was employed at Ts restaurant over 15 years until her health began to faith in Augusta. Those cherishing her fond loving memories include her devoted husband, Ellis 'Cheatah' Carter; son, Ellis (Phillippia) Wilcher, Fort Bragg, N.C.; daughters, Sharon (Clarence) Washington, Angela Washington (Robert) Wilcher, both of Augusta, Yolonda (Melvin) Bennett, Charlotte, N.C.; parents, Mamie Coppet, Augusta, Lee Earnest (Louise) Wilcher, Thomson; six grandchildren; grandparents, Johnny Hampton, Augusta and Maudie Mae Wilcher, Thomson; brothers, Johnny (Beverly) Wilcher, Michael Wilcher, Ronald Wilcher and Ricky Wilcher, all of Augusta; sisters, Velma (Horace) Taylor, Thomson, Diane (Jimmy) Lott, Norcross, Shirley Wilcher, Marie Godbee, Janice Wilcher and Grace Wilcher all of Augusta; mothers-in-law, Mae Belle Tucker, Cerro Gordo, N.C. and Christine (Raymond) Ellis Lakewood, N.J.; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Karen) Carter, Sammie Scott; sisters-in-law, Diane (Perry) Brown, Thomson, Wanda Walker, Hephzibah, Jacqueline Smith, Newark, N.J.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, May 31, 2002, at Newberry Baptist Church. Reverend Cleve Garrison officiating. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Gardens. Her remains will lie in state an hour before the service. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 p.m., at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road; 706-790-8858. To the Carter&Wilcher Family,

It's been about 24 yrs.,since I met the family and like always I have always felt like a part of the family. I just want you all to know that I love you all,and that Mamie Lee were "one of a kind" she had a beautiful heart.Know that she is free from all pain now,Know that the Lord is to wise to make a mistake,she's another one of the Lord's Roses he wanted to bloom in Heaven.
