Funeral for Fred Andrew Lee Jr., 66, of Decatur will be Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ben Hayes officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lee, who died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital, was born June 16, 1943, in Morgan County to Fred A. Lee Sr. and Mary Chaney Lee. He began his career as a Morgan County Deputy Sheriff and then became an Alabama State Trooper for many years. He retired from the A.B.I. where he was a member of the Special Operations Team, the Bomb Squad and Hazardous Materials Team. Before retiring, he was a part of Gov. Fob James' Executive Security Team. Mr. Lee was a member of the Elks Lodge, Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, York Rite Mason, and a Noble of the Cahaba Shrine Temple.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Chappell Lee; one son, Paul Lee and wife, Sonja, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two sisters, Maryla K. Lee and Deborah Lynette Lee, both of Athens; one grandson, William Lee; and three granddaughters, Elizabeth Lee, Abigail Lee and Emily Lee.

Pallbearers are Roger Holt, Danny Junkins, Roy Sumja, Dave Conrad, James Hudson and John Williams.

Honorary pallbearers are Gil Terry, Jerry Welch, John Howell, John Pat Orr and David Orr.

My deepest prayers to the Lee family. Fred was an outstanding law enforcement officer. He was honest, dedicated, and served with a high degree of integrity and bravery. Most of all, Fred Lee was a good man.
