Flora Peterson Obituary
MORTON – Flora Mae Peterson, 87, of Morton, passed away at 1:32 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Atkins, Ark., to Archie and Naoma (Darter) Whorton. She married Samuel Edwin Peterson on April 30, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2011. She also was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Peterson; her son-in-law, Robert Smith; her daughter-in-law, Diane Peterson; and two sisters, Gladys Robinson and Edith Salle.
Surviving are two sons, Dale (Sharon) Peterson of New Franklin, Mo., and Gary Peterson of Cahokia, Ill.; three daughters, Sandy (Kevin) Suminski of Peoria, Hazel Smith of Morton and Debra Peterson (Mark George) of St. Louis, Mo.; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Peterson of Waterloo, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Archie Whorton and Gene Whorton; and two sisters, Betty Smith and Wanda Malone.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell, Mo.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling local arrangements.
