Playing laser tag around the outside of the family home. Going on long bike rides no matter the distance. Being introduced to some truly amazing people. Learning, growing, experiencing things first hand. Our inside jokes, having our first drinks together, fighting each other over the stupidest of things. You were always there for me when I really needed you. You apologized for not being as good a friend to me as I was to you. It would be nice to know you knew that you were. I know you knew, you know i know we both knew. No matter how much time passes, true besties can pick up like it were yesterday. Prayers for all of you as the time of year comes around again. I hope you are all living as best as you can. Shaine wouldn't have wanted anything but happiness for his family and friends. Miss you . Love you.

I recently thought of Shaine, and wanted to reconnect. When I saw that he passed away I can't help but cry.
We met on a game called RuneScape, and we had long intellectual conversations. We eventually found out that we lived in London, and we started hanging out.
Shaine was the little brother I never had, until I moved away.
He would literally bike from one side of the city to the other just to see you, just to hang out for a bit.
We always had great times, and I wish I reconnected sooner.
Will miss Shaine greatly.

Shaine was such an involved student in class. He helped with with the projector and computer endless times, was always so friendly to classmates and never passed my classroom door without popping his head in to say hello and throw a smile. I’m so very sorry to everyone who lost Shaine; he touched so many lives.

Shaine was one of my first best friends as a kid, we were in the same grade 1 class and right off the start I knew he was going to be a long time friend of mine, we both liked Math in school and we would have competitions against each other to practice our multiplication. The first time I was ever suspended from school Shaine was with me, we tended to push the rules to the breaking point but most of the time we managed to avoid getting in trouble.
Shaine brought a skateboard everywhere he went for awhile, and he seemed to be the only kid who could even stand on a skateboard let alone do tricks with one. Shaine was unique when it came to Skateboarding, atleast at my school nobody else seemed to be interested but Shaine was different.
One of my most fondest memories is celebrating our grade 8 graduation by going swimming in his backyard with a few of the other boys, joking around and talking about highschool, girls and video games.
I remember one time being in his backyard while he was climbing on his roof with a snowboard, he was more brave than I was that was certain. ( yes he went down his snow covered roof on his snowboard )
In highschool I was there with him when he had his first serious girlfriend and going through the ups and downs of that with him was memorable too. After school we would walk home together most days talking about class and video games, I have many fond memories of this time period in my life.
Shaine was there for me when my mom died, being a good friend trying to cheer me up the best he could, I always appreciated that more than he probably knew.
After highschool our lives took us in different directions and we lost touch, I never felt like we had really lost touch though, it felt like any day could be a day that we started talking again like no time had even passed but unfortunately I was mistaken.
Shaine was a good person and a great friend, I will always remember the things we went through.
RIP Shaine

I was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Shaine.
I'm thankful to have shared in many memories with Shaine through family gatherings, cherished holiday dinners, and countless hours in front of the N64 video game console.
He was kind and lighthearted. Shaine will be sorely missed but forever remembered.

Jan, Jim and Ashlie,
I am so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Shaine.
I feel so fortunate to have been close to Shaine and Ashlie throughout my childhood. I have so many wonderful memories of spending the holidays with my cousins. I always looked forward to our visits together.I remember one Christmas in particular, Shaine was gifted his first snowboard. Well, it didn't take him long to head outside into the backyard and start riding down the tiny snow-covered rock piles!
He also taught me a neat trick that came in handy during holiday dinners. He showed me how to hollow out my dinner roll and fill it with unwanted vegetables. Our parents never seemed too upset with an inconspicuous dinner roll that we couldn't possibly finish. They were too pleased that we had eaten all of our turnip!
I will never forget Shaine's infectious smile and the way he would giggle and squirm when Aunt Jan and Uncle Jim would hold him tight and give him cuddles and kisses.
I hold these memories close as I send love to the entire family. We have all been so blessed to have known Shaine.
Love,
Jessica

Like all of us who knew Shaine, we too have many fond memories, especially of our family gatherings together with him.
Remembering his gentle nature, enjoying playing with our dog, his curiosity, his willingness to help whenever he could, his laughter, how much fun he had spending time with his cousins and that big ear to ear smile.
It is the sharing of all these special memories that will help to heal our hearts.
We are so blessed to have had Shaine in our lives and he will forever be a part of us.

I have numerous happy memories of Shaine. Fun times at my cottage when he was young and our visits to London as he grew older. His generosity shone when he insisted that he buy his visitors pizza, even though we knew he couldn't afford it!.
Shaine was fun-loving and had a great sense of humour. I remember many humourous tales shared throughout the years. I remember one story in particular when he wanted to get a dog and his mother said he had to show responsibility first. So he started to walk his cat on a leash and visited all the neighbours. Unfortunately, it didn't win him the dog!
Shaine, you left us too soon. You will be missed by all who loved you.

I hope that there comes a time that we may remember Shaine without the wave of sorrow and tears that come to our eyes.
We must remember to celebrate his life and the gifts that he gave us.
His love of his family...his loyalty to friends...his generosity to strangers...his affection towards animals...his goofiness and smiles...and his eagerness to please.
We must find comfort in these memories and in the knowledge that he has left a mark on our hearts. And in tribute to him....we must smile.
Love, Auntie Kandis
