Paul Daniel Stenard June 22, 1923 - September 21, 2014 Paul D. Stenard, age 91, of Wallingford, Connecticut, died peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Masonicare Nursing Home with three of his daughters by his side. He was born in Montague, Massachusetts, on June 22, 1923, the son of the late Charles Edward Stenard and Mary Moriarty Stenard. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1941. He next attended Staley School of Drama in Brookline, Massachusetts. In September of 1942 he transferred to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In February of 1943 he entered the United States Army, and after completing basic training was sent to the Army Specialized Training Program at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Subsequently he was assigned to the 84th Infantry Division and served in the European Theater. He was discharged in February, 1946. He then returned to and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in June, 1949, after which he entered Boston University Law School, and graduated in June, 1952. He was employed by the Continental Insurance Company in Springfield, Massachusetts, and continued with that company for 30 years at various locations in the United States and Canada, retiring as a Vice President in 1982. While employed, he was very active in professional and community theaters in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Kentucky and Vermont as a talented actor and director. He received numerous awards during his career. His first marriage to Harriette Carlisle Stenard ended in divorce. After retirement, he and his second wife, the late Barbara Treml Stenard, moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he entered the Graduate Arts and Sciences Department of the University of Virginia and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Directing. Survivors include three daughters from his first marriage, Pamela Ossorio of Prospect, Connecticut, and her husband, Daniel, Gaye Stenard Biry and her husband, George, and grandson, Matthew, of Oxford, England, and Deborah Stenard and her husband, Paul Bowman, of Los Angeles, California; two step-children, Robert Buck and his wife, Pamela Lawrence, of Swampscott, Massachusetts, and Hettie Buck of Moultonboro, New Hampshire; a sister, Mary Virginia Colo and her husband, Joseph, of Ocala, Florida; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be held at St. Paul's Memorial Church, 1700 University Ave, Charlottesville, VA 22903, on Monday, September 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. A reception in the church will be held after the service.
