Marguerite Driscoll Obituary

Published by McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations from Jan. 5 to Jan. 6, 2022.
Marguerite (Sylvester) Driscoll, 86, of Philadelphia PA passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022. 'Rita', as she was affectionately known, was born on June 4, 1935 to Dorothy (Cohen) and Dominic Sylvester in Philadelphia. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1953. Rita was talented in so many aspects of her life. She was a gifted artist even though she never pursued that path professionally. However, one just had to view her beautiful ceramics to understand her passion. Rita was the loving wife of the late Timothy Driscoll. She would also go on to have a beautiful long-term relationship with the late George Keil. While Rita held various positions in her lifetime, she was best known as a waitress at Buckalew's Restaurant and Tavern in Beach Haven, NJ. Rita was predeceased by her brother John (June, Barbara) Sylvester. She is survived by her two brothers Robert (Rose Marie) Sylvester and Michael (Flora) Sylvester, her nieces Michele (Gary) Mech, Kim (Hai) Kenney, Karen (Tom) Price and Mary (John) Thompson as well as her nephew Michael (Judy) Sylvester. She is also lovingly remembered by 11 great nieces, nephews and many friends. Rita will be honored at a celebration of her life on Saturday January 8, 2022 at McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations 6126 Torresdale Avenue, Philadelphia PA. Her viewing will be held Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12 PM and her service will begin at noon. Her family welcomes a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.

We're so sad to hear of the passing of our "Aunt Rita" as we so lovingly called her. Living next door to each other allowed us to become not just great friends. But in her own words....Family. There is nothing in allowance of God that my Wife and I wouldn't do for Aunt Rita. The last time we visited Aunt Rita at the nursing home she said: "Poo you have to break me out of here". She was such a joy to know. She will be greatly missed at our next cookout. We love you Aunt Rita!!. Rest in Paradise!. Navarro(Poo and Sandra.

Rita and I were very good friends even though in many ways we were opposite. I loved to shop and she hated it. I liked to sleep late and she got up early. There was alot of compromise on both sides in our relationship. I loving referred to her as my wife and my husband as my husband. I love her with all my heart and she will be forever in my thoughts,
