Elizabeth Downs-Toms Obituary
Frederick, Maryland. She passed from this life on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Born on January 5, 1936, in Frederick, MD, she is the daughter of the late James Wolfe and Glenna and Wilbur (stepfather) Stup.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Toms, her son George Downs, and grandson Jason Downs.
She is survived by her sons; Robert Downs, Timothy Downs, and daughter-in-law Katie. Grandchildren Jamie Ambrose (Jason), Maria Downs, Elizabeth Hafer (Greg), and Sara Eberle (Jason), nine great-grandchildren; Olivia and Samantha Ambrose, Savanah Lee and Mason Berryman, Ryan and Luke Hafer, Brooks, Harry and Charlotte Eberle.
Libby worked for Frances D. Mealey, her friend and mentor, owner of Mealey's Restaurant in New Market, MD, for many years.
Known for her cooking skills, her crab cake recipe won Best in Frederick. Family and patrons of Mealey's raved nonstop of the many varieties of soups she made, and the meals she prepared with love.
Libby always cared for her loved ones in their time of need, and we wholeheartedly thank Christine, Maria, and Mary for caring for Libby in her time of need over the last 2 years.
We also want to acknowledge special family members near and dear to her heart. Carolin Stine,
Bonnie Jenkins, and Gwen Stoehr.
Funeral services will be private.
