Mary Ann (Mackin) Grabowski, age 79 of Manistee, Michigan, died Friday morning, October 28, 2022 at her home in Manistee, surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 24, 1942 in Manistee, Michigan, daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Smith) Mackin. She was a graduate of Manistee High School with the class of 1960. Mary Ann married Robert J. Grabowski on September 22, 1962 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. As a young lady she was employed at the Glen of Michigan and later was the Assistant Director at the Manistee County Historical Museum. Mary Ann was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Old Kirke Museum. She was an active volunteer for the Special Olympics for many years, enjoyed working on genealogy, and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Robert "Bob" Grabowski of Manistee, MI, two daughters and a son; Tina (Chuck) Nemec of Mount Airy, Maryland, Andrea Lund of Manistee, MI, and Logan Grabowski of Manistee, MI. Her sister and brother in-law; Peg and Rick Manuszak of Grand Rapids, MI, and a special cousin, Marie Brooker of Greer, South Carolina. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her brother and sister in-law; Robert and Agnes Mackin, her infant brother John Mackin and her father in-law and mother in-law; Casimer "Rusty" and Alice (Wentland) Grabowski.
According to Mary Ann's wishes, cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee at 11:30 AM with Reverend Zeljko Guberovic officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning one hour prior to the funeral service.
