Maryon R. Manock, age 96, peacefully passed away on January 1, 2023 at Edward Hospital in
Naperville, Illinois leaving this world a better place and lives enriched because of her presence. Maryon was born in Chicago on May 6, 1926 and survived by her loving children Jon David (Mary Ann) Manock, Mark Dillon (Catherine) Manock, Mary Bridget (the late George) Donovan, and Matthew McDonough (Joy) Manock; and her cherished grandchildren Jonathan (Brittani) Manock, Megan (Kirk) Giannola, Caitlin (Zachary) Wilker, Morgan (Daniel) Hogan, Samantha Manock, Madison Manock, and Grant Manock; and her adored great-grandchildren Gweneth and Brooklyn Giannola, Lillian and Landon Wilker, and Dillon Hogan; and her dear brother Donald Dillon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jon Manock; her parents Hugh and Laura Dillon; and her siblings Hugh Dillon, Paul Dillon, Lewis Dillon, and Sister Laura Dillon, O. P. Maryon was a dedicated student and graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport Iowa in 1948 with a Master's of Science in Nutrition degree and worked in hospital settings. It was in Davenport where she met Jon D Manock, her husband of 61 years. She was truly a wonderful sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an admirable woman, beautiful inside and out. She was the epitome of patience, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Her grace and warmth was expressed in all that she touched whether it be her fabulous open houses she hosted, her keepsake cross stitch creations, or her raising of four children in immaculately spotless and inviting homes. Thanks to the love and support of Jon and his 41-year career with The Travelers Insurance Company, Maryon adventurously braved seven moves and eight homes from Peoria Illinois to West Hartford Connecticut to Jacksonville Florida to Detroit Michigan to Chicago Illinois and back to West Hartford Connecticut, finally retiring in Hilton Head South Carolina. This gracious woman calmly facilitated these transitions by focusing on her four children and their needs as they moved from state to state and school to school. Maryon elegantly orchestrated these moves while also finding the time to volunteer at several organizations such as Meals on Wheels in various states, and House of Bread in Hartford Connecticut. She volunteered at every parish to which she belonged, always blessing everyone she encountered with her unassuming kindness. As serenely as Maryon Manock left this earth, and as gently as she lived her life, she's leaving everyone with a loud and resounding impression of a life lived in pure grace.
