Audrey Madeleine:
On February 26, 2023 at Nazareth House, Christchurch, supported by her Mercy community, family and staff. Dearly loved member of Nga Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa Sisters of Mercy New Zealand in the 69th year of her religious profession, aged 88 years. Dearly loved daughter of Tessa and Paddy, much loved sister and sister-in-law of Maureen and Bill Kennedy, Patrick and Iris, Noel and Joyce, Teresa and Ray Phelan, John and Patricia, James, and Clare and Darcy Lucas (all deceased); much loved aunty of all her nieces and nephews. Special thanks to staff of Nazareth House and Mercy carers. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, 373 Manchester Street, on Thursday, March 2, at 1.30pm, followed by interment at Waimairi Cemetery, Grahams Road. Vigil prayers at Te Manawa Atawhai Catherine McAuley Centre, 21 Peer Street, on Wednesday, March 1, at 7.00pm. Livestream link: https://youtube.com/live/JFWE2WBA8P8

With my sympathy care and prayer for all Audrey´s Mercy family, extended Wafer family and her many close friends. What a wonderful farewell for such a well loved, gracious relational person. She certainly did so much in making life better for so many people over her long journey of life. I can still hear her chuckle and lovely engaging manner. Aunty Audz,
We are so sad to hear of your passing. We have so many fond memories of you from the road trips, the treats, the stories, the humour and most importantly your endless support and empathy for others. You were such a loving and caring person and we take comfort in the fact you are now up there with Nana and Grandad looking down on us enjoying a Shandy.

Beloved Aunty Audrey, you were always such a breathe of fresh air popping in to see us in Christchurch most weeks always with thoughtful little gifts for us. You were so kind, generous, caring & such a happy, cheerful lady who worked so hard as a teacher and a Sister of Mercy dedicating your whole life to others from a very young age. We love you & appreciate all you did for us all. You're at peace and out of pain now & you're with your favourite beloved sister Clare, D'arcy, Gregory & all the other beloved family who have passed who loved you so much. We will miss you. Sr Gemma´s passing away brings tears to my eyes. Tears of gratitude mostly. The photo is just how I remember beautiful smiling Sr Gemma. She had the right measure of all the qualities needed to be a teacher of young girls. In the day when it was all so "cut and dried" Sr Gemma brought a softness and humour and a very real sense of approachability.
Rest in the Lord´s loving arms dear Sr Gemma.
