Alice Kathleen Morris, 86, of Amboy, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 24, 2023, at her home in Amboy, surrounded by her loving family. Alice worked for the Dixon State School, HWI, and Fantasy Flavors, prior to her retirement.
Alice was born, July 11, 1936, on the family farm in Amboy, the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Hale) Ranken. She married Richard "Dick" Morris on March 27, 1955, at the First Baptist Church in Amboy. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2013. Alice loved her family more than anything, especially playing and teaching her grandchildren how to play nutsy, euchre, dice games, puzzles, and going to her bingo games. Alice could always be found in her garden and her big strawberry patch where all the children would go out and pick strawberries and sell them. She also loved tending to her flowers, feeding and listening to the birds.
Alice and Richard were the proud parents of twelve children, Susan Loreen (Greg) Van Matre of Dixon, Joyce Coreen (Jim) Dale of Amboy, Karen Noreen (Joel) Bonnell of Dixon, Janet Floreen (Ryan) Atkins of Troy, MO, Reita Arleen Gulley of Amboy, Debra Coleen (Scott) Claeys of Stevens Point, WI, Allison Joleen (Chad) Geuther of LaMoille; five sons, Richard Morris of LaMoille, Gregory Morris of Dixon, Ronald (Sherry) Morris of Amboy, David (Josie) Morris of Amboy, Bradley (Firouzel) Morris of Wheaton; twenty-four grandchildren, Ryan Van Matre, Brandi Weaver, Mike Dale, Tim Dale, Kim Dale, Tom Dale, Brian Bonnell, Kyle Bonnell, Vincent Morris, Jeremy Gabelmann, Eric Gabelmann, Ashlee Atkins, Phillip Gulley, Nicole Smalley, Natalee Gulley, Tabitha Berogan, Levi Morris Johnson, Cody Morris, Caleb Morris, Marty Claeys, Mason Claeys, Montana Morris, Alexa Morris; 33 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Wilhelm; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gray, Carol Ranken; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Gray and Dean Gilbert.
Alice was also preceded in death by one grandson, Brock Matthew Bonnell; two brothers, Richard Ranken, Edward Ranken; and one sister, Mary M. Schaefer.
A memorial visitation will be from 2:00 - 5:00 pm Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will take place at Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy.
A memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.
