Gary HEMPHILL Obituary

April 28 1946 - February 23 2023

It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that our family announces the passing of Gary Allan Hemphill on Thursday February 23, 2023.

Gary was the loving and devoted husband of Lise for 56 years. He was the cherished father of Adrienne (John), Lee (2016) and Kirk. Beloved Papa to John (Kelly), Rob (Lacey), Nathaniel, and Abigail. He was the adored great-grandpa to Raiden, Austin, Maddy, Noah, Jorja, and Weston.

Gary was born in 1946 to Bruce (1997) and Mae (2000) Hemphill. He was the loved brother to Pat (Bob), Bruce (2010), Terry (Janet), Heather (2015), Maryanne, Allan (1951), Robert, and Mark (2022(Lori 2022).

Son-in-law to Lucien (2012) and Germaine (2006) Laplante, brother-in-law to Micheline, Denise (Bart), Gilles and Danielle (Frank).

He was Uncle Gary to a great many nieces and nephews.

Gary (Train) will be remembered for always being on the baseball field, playing slo-pitch for the TP Chiefs. A Slo-pitch team, which was made up of employees of Thompson Products, where Gary had worked since 1968, after leaving Kimberly Clark paper mill where he worked since 1963. Gary excelled at his job at Thompson Products, from starting on the machines on the floor to retiring from TRW in 2003 as an area manager.

Husband, dad, and papa will be forever remembered for creating loads of wonderful memories for his family, from fishing, cottage trips and camping to just hanging out and telling stories of the past and talking about history.

Our family would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to all the PSWs, Nurses, Doctors, and Residents, who over the years came to know, care for, and befriend Gary. He always enjoyed talking to people and helping anyone in any way he could. Gary was lovingly referred to as the Mayor of Linhaven. He had cultivated so many friendships which were evident to us in their expression of sympathy in his passing. Thank you.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Passfield Mortuary Services Inc. Per Gary's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no service, a private internment will take place on a later date.

Lise and family,
We are so heartbroken to hear that Gary has passed away. He was a special friend to my boys, especially to Spencer. He always gave his time to talk to Spencer about baseball and how things were going in life. He was so kind, caring and patient, knowing that Spencer has autism and some learning delays. He will never know how much that meant to us. We will never forget him
