William Lamb Obituary

The family of William E. "Bill" Lamb of Elkhart is sad to announce his passing on Thursday evening, March 9, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by love and family. Bill was 91.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1931, in Elkhart to the late William H. Lamb and Mary Kathryn (Lenzo) Lamb. In addition to his parents, a sister Jacqueline E. "Jackie" Lamb preceded him in death.

Bill graduated from Elkhart High School in 1950, and graduated from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana. He heard the call of duty and served in the United States Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957.

Bill was the well known and loved owner of the Bulldog Restaurant & Bar at Bulldog Crossing for over 36 years. He formerly worked at Patrick Industries and Richardson Mobile Homes.

Bill was a man of great faith and a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved all sports especially the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers. Bill also enjoyed supporting and volunteering with the Special Olympics, helping with the local track and field events. Not only was he a great guy and friend to many, but he also loved to cook and BBQ and was known for his famous linguine and clams dish.

Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sue Lamb; his children, Susie (Gary) Tucker and Cathy (Jorge Bremer) Bremer; Sue's children, Jeff (Mari) Weiss and Jay Weiss; his brother, Chuck (Betty) Lamb; four grandchildren, Madison and Talia Weiss, Kristin (Bill) Boon and Kari (Brandon) Caudill; special nieces and nephews Diane (Nick) Burakow, Joe (Nancy) Spencer, Charlie (Susie) Lamb and Julie (Charles) Hunt; and extended family and friends.

Friends may visit with Bill's family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Billings Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with an additional one hour of visitation on Thursday, March 16, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert "Bob" VanKempen will officiate. Military honors will be rendered following the mass by the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard, Elkhart Veterans Honor Guard and Indiana Patriot Guard. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial donations be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Not sure what to say?

Bernie, friends and I spent many evenings at the Bulldog with good drinks, food, laughs over the years that Bill owned the establishment. Many friends were made and good times still remembered. My sympathy to his family and memories of a funny, personable Bill.

Have lots of good memories of Bill. He & my brother, Jack were good friends from childhood on through the yrs. We all played together when we were young and walked to St. Vincent's school together. Will remember him and his family in my prayers.

Sue, I was so very sorry to hear this sad news; I was talking to my son this morning about you and how you were like a second mom to me at Robertson's and sharing such special memories. You are in my prayers and please take care of yourself. I love you.

Sending prayers to all Bill's family and friends. He was such a a great guy. When I worked at Godfrey in the parts department, he would always call me for parts for his boat, and I got to know him fairly well. Also enjoyed seeing him at The Bulldog. He will be missed
