Gerald "Jack" John Schilling 1931 - 2018
Belleville, IL—Gerald "Jack" John Schilling, 86, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, December 17, 1931, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at his home.
Jack was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. He retired as an Illinois State Trooper. Jack was a State Trooper for 17 years and was promoted to Commander of Division of Criminal Investigation for 11 years. After retiring from the State law enforcement he served as the chief investigator for ADM for 16 years. Jack also served in the Marines and was a Korean War veteran. Jack was a member of the Moose, Elks and Eagles lodges and had many dear friends from the Moose. In his free time, you could find him enjoying time on the golf course, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, and traveling with his dear friend and companion, Marge Von Bokel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen Schilling, nee Schwarz; wife, June Schilling, nee Belt; brother, Donald Schilling; and son, Christopher Schilling.
Jack is survived by his son, Stephen (Christine) Schilling of Lincoln, IL; two sisters, Shirley Carriger of Belleville, IL, and Betty (Ron) Simmonds of Belleville, IL; dear friend and companion, Marge Von Bokel of Belleville, IL; three grandchildren, Danielle (Andy) Meister, Jace Barnes and Kendall Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Graham, Alma, and Parker; and special friends, Al Hendricks, Zeke and Jeannie Zeisness, Mark (Bunny) and Logan Von Bokel, Tom (Jada), Madeline and Olivia Von Bokel.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018,at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded.
