About Colorado

Colorado was named after the Colorado River which runs through the Grand Canyon. The state is known for their diverse geography which includes the majestic Rocky Mountains along with deserts, plains and steep canyons. Colorado is the only U.S. state that lies entirely above 1,000 meters elevation. The federal government is a major economic force in the state with important facilities there including NORAD, the United States Air Force Academy and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. Colorado is a great state for keeping active as there are plenty of outdoor activities available including world-class skiing, biking and hiking. According to several studies, Coloradans have the lowest rates of obesity of any state in the US. Colorado has more microbreweries per capita than any other state. Some of the best breweries include Left Hand, known for their Milk Stout Nitro and New Belgium’s Fat Tire which is an amber ale. Celebrities from Colorado include Don Cheadle, Amy Adams and the band Big Head Todd and the Monsters.
