About Michigan

Michigan is the only state to consist of two peninsulas. The peninsulas are connected by the Mackinac Bridge which is the world’s 17th longest. Michigan is the center of the country’s automobile industry with the headquarters for Ford, General Motors and Chrysler located in the Detroit metro area. The state is a haven for those who love outdoor recreation with four Great Lakes that border the state. There are more registered boats and golf courses in Michigan than any other state. Michigan is known for their tart cherries and they produce 75% of that fruit grown in the United States. Traverse City holds the annual National Cherry Festival each July. Many top celebrities were born in Michigan including Madonna, Kristen Bell, Christie Brinkley, David Spade and Stevie Wonder.
