About New Mexico

New Mexico is called “The Land of Enchantment.” The culture of the state is shaped by Hispanic and Native American influences. This heritage is reflected in New Mexico’s flag which uses scarlet and gold from the royal standards of Spain and features the ancient sun symbol of the Zia tribe. The New Mexico landscape is a scenic array of deserts, mesas and high snow-capped mountains. The state is the third leading producer of crude oil and natural gas in the country. A large artistic community lives in Santa Fe which is host to the New Mexico Museum of Art and the renowned Santa Fe Opera. The town of Hatch is known for their Green Chile peppers and hosts an annual Chile festival. The Green Chile Cheeseburger is so popular that there is an official Green Chile Cheeseburger trail that will take you to the best across the state.
