About Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a small island with big history and culture. From the indigenous Taino people to the conquering Spaniards to African slaves brought to the island, generations of people from around the world have contributed to Puerto Rico’s unique cultural mix. That diversity is highlighted in the languages (English and Spanish), music (salsa, bomba, reggaeton), food (cocina criolla, sofrito, Latin fusion), and even geography (rainforests, bioluminescent bays, white-sand beaches). In the capital city, San Juan, one finds old-world charm and modern amenities side by side, along with world-class museums, a vibrant restaurant scene, and hundreds of years of history.
