Carmen Moreno Obituary
Carmen Moreno (86) of Lodi, California passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.
Carmen was born in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico in 1932. She studied and worked growing up. As a teenager, Carmen met her "Amor Eterno" (Forever Love), Rodrigo Moreno, and they eventually married. They remained in Mexico and welcomed their first two children. In 1958 they moved to Terminous, California and continued to raise their growing family. They eventually settled in Lodi in 1974. She also lived in Houston, Texas, for 10 years, but returned in 2017 to spend her final days in Lodi.
Carmen was a homemaker all her life and dedicated her time to loving and nurturing her family. She also took care of children in her spare time. She was a member of St. Anne's Church all her life, where she was a part of the Mexican American Catholic Federation and the Theater Group. She served as a Minister of Holy Communion, catechist and sang in the choir. Her faith was a big part of her life and she devoted much of her time volunteering and chaperoning many youth activities and "Encuentro" (Encounter) retreats. She was an amazingly creative person, and in her free time she loved to cook, crochet, write stories/poetry, and sing songs.
Carmen is survived by her children Carmen Corona (Fidel), Silvia Argueta (Roberto), Ana Miranda (Gilberto), Gilbert Moreno and Jess "Tony" Moreno. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Rodrigo Moreno and a son Rodrigo Moreno Jr. Carmen was loved by many whom she considered part of her "adopted" family and they lovingly considered her their "Tita". She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 31st from 12:00-6:00 pm, followed by a rosary at 6:00 pm at Lodi Funeral Home. On Friday, February 1st , her funeral services will begin with a reception at St. Anne's Church in Lodi beginning at 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1:00 pm. Interment will be immediately following the Mass at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in Stockton.
