CAROLYN HOLMES Obituary
Born on December 31st, 1937 in French Camp, California to Marshal and Edith Riggle. Joyce grew up on a ranch in the California delta. She attended Terminous Elementary and Lodi Union High School graduating in 1956. After graduation Joyce worked for a short time as a secretary for Monroe Calculating Machines in Stockton before marrying Hulen Holmes in 1959.
She and her husband Hulen made Lodi their home while raising their children. In the 1980's they moved to Burson and enjoyed ranch life raising a small herd of cattle, and in the late 90's they moved back to Lodi to enjoy retirement. Wherever they called home they always had a large garden that produced an abundance of fruits and vegetables which was happily shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Joyce also found joy and friendship in her line dance group and danced well into her 80's.
Joyce was proceeded in death by her husband Hulen, her parents, brothers Charles "Pete" Riggle, Marvin Riggle and sister Geneva Patitz. She is survived by daughters Chrisette "Cricket" (Walter) Cranston, Leslie (Michael) Smith both of Lodi and son John (Kate) Holmes of Washington. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons and her sister Nina Michaels of Stockton.
Her family will celebrate her life in a private service. The family would like to offer our appreciation and sincere gratitude to the wonderful community at Oakmont of Lodi.

I meet Joyce 70+ years ago. We remain friends all these year. We both lived in the country and rode the same school bus, to Lodi High School. We had a lots of fun times together. I will miss her, dearly.
