Kathlyn Kappos Obituary

Kathlyn Frances Kappos passed peacefully at 91 on August 19, 2025. Born the youngest of five on December 29, 1933 to Lillian Elizabeth and Frank Lundeen in Minneapolis, Minnesota, her family moved to Lodi when she was 14. She graduated from Lodi High School in 1951 and married the love of her life, Steve Kappos, on June 15, 1952.
After high school she worked as a bookkeeper for local companies until their son was born. When they built their house in Acampo in 1965 and eventually developed approximately 200 acres of wine grapes, mostly Zinfandel, Kathy worked as the accountant for their farming business, in addition to working in the field, assisting her husband with tying vines. She was completely devoted to her family as a wife and mother, volunteering as a 4-H leader and room mother for her son's elementary school classes.
Her greatest joy was raising her son, matched only by becoming "Yia Yia" to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed vacationing in Tahoe, working on puzzles, playing cards, and maintaining family ancestry albums.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cami Kappos, and her grandchildren Kyra and Nick, in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Marvin Lundeen, her sisters Violet Lincoln, Lenore Sypnieski and Evelyn Lundeen, and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, where she was confirmed and married, at 11:00am on September 12.
