Wendy Fumiko Nagao Obituary
Wendy Fumiko Nagao passed away at Lodi Memorial Hospital on April 17, 2019, after a lengthy illness. She was 88 years old. A life-long resident of Acampo and Walnut Grove, she was married to the late Henry Nagao for 54 years, raising two daughters, Denise Nagao of Stockton and Noreen Nagao of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Born to Teruichi and Teruko Iwamiya on July 12, 1930, Wendy was one of seven children. Her siblings include Toshiko Nishimoto, George Iwamiya, Tom Iwamiya, Haru Onishi, Dickie Iwamiya, and the late Shig Iwamiya.
During World War II, 11-year-old Wendy was incarcerated in a Japanese American internment camp in Rohwer, Arkansas, and upon her release returned to Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School. After graduation, she worked in Stockton as office manager for Dr. John Morozumi for 25 years.
Wendy was an active member of the Lodi Buddhist Temple and loved to garden, fish and spend time at the ocean. She leaves behind her two daughters, many nieces and nephews, and friends from the Lodi community.
A memorial service will be held for her at the Lodi Buddhist Temple on Saturday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m.
